Dr. Fearer is board-certified in internal medicine and geriatric medicine, emphasizing the specialized care of older adults. His training and extensive clinical experience have equipped him to manage the diagnostic, therapeutic, preventive, and rehabilitative aspects of diseases and syndromes affecting the elderly. His practice focuses on health promotion for functional independence, while recognizing the importance of the early identification and treatment of disease and the management of disability in later life.
Elderly patients often have multiple co-morbidities, use multiple medications, and are under the care of multiple physicians. Given the types of problems that elderly adults and their families face, Dr. Fearer draws upon his multi-decade experience and clinical skills to treat challenging acute and chronic diseases, coordinating the work of the caregiving team. He takes a whole-person and family approach, seeing his patients in his office, Santa Barbara and Goleta Cottage Hospitals, Cottage Rehabilitation Hospital, local skilled nursing facilities, and various assisted living facilities in Santa Barbara, California.
